A sustainable environment doesn’t just happen. We all have to work for it. Labour councillors have made the argument at every level of our town. One of the first actions of the new Labour Town Council in Witney was to declare a climate emergency, followed by a public meeting to come up with ideas for improving things and cutting carbon. The Town Council is committed to zero carbon by 2028.

From support for walking and cycling, improved footpaths, community buses and car free days – we are constantly working to combat climate change.

The fabulous Witney Land Army, led by Labour councillors and volunteers. conducts environmental projects to make our town cleaner and greener. A national first is the “tiny forest” Tychwood, just off Eton Close in Cogges, where hundreds of specially planted trees will bring environmental benefits and wildlife habitat, all on a patch the size of a tennis court.
