Petition online to stop North Witney development
Petition online to stop North Witney development

Hundreds of Witney residents have signed a petition to get the huge North Witney development reconsidered, led by councillors including Duncan Enright and Andrew Coles, and promoted by campaigners including Mike Brooker and Stuart McCarroll.

Over Christmas 2020 local homes were flooded, both as a result of flash floods and in subsequent river level rises. Both the impact of the new homes on Hailey Road and surrounding areas, and the proposed new infrastructure such as a new road across flooding fields between West End and Burford Road, have serious consequences and need to be reconsidered for the flood risk they pose.

Drains and culverts in the area became overloaded quickly on 23/12/20. Water rushed in a torrent across playing fields and down the roads, including Hailey Road. Even more than the traffic issues, these flooding concerns lead us to believe that the North Witney Development Area needs to be reconsidered immediately.

We can't continue with 1400 extra homes in North Witney without a thorough review of flooding and traffic impacts. Councillor Duncan Enright
